what upgrade to you usually put on your weapon? shelter (+7 vs physical), defense (+5 armor), warding (+7 vs elemental) or fortitude (+30 hp)?

i personally like the defense upgrade vs fortitude coz itll save you some hp after a breakpoint against consistent damage.

A warrior already has 80-96 AL against elemental, and 100-116 against physical.

Skill attack bonus damage is armor ignoring.
Degen is armor ignoring.
All mesmer, necro and smiting damage is armor ignoring.

I still think +30 hp helps more than +5 AL overall.

You understand the math behind the damage with the fortitude mod is - 1790 where as the damage with the +5 defence mod is 1810...

I am at a loss why its better... 20 hp may not seem to be much but when you have 19 that extra 1 gets might important!

+armor mods are useful only to PvE solo farmers, end of story

No character takes enough hits of armor accepting damage without healing to warrent a defense mod over a health mod

I prefer the defense mod, why? Because it's cheaper

I keep fortitude on switch for when I actually need the health.

That doesn't make sense. Getting hit a lot without healing is when +health mods are useful. +Defense is for when you are getting healed.

Not that I think defense is better - health ftw. More margin-of-error for monks during any sort of spike. But your reasoning is weird.

The easiest way through warrior armor is with hexes and conditions. They just love piling them on warriors. i.e Conjure Phantasm, a simple hex that deals 10 dmg per second. There's a big 3 second window for a monk to come save the day as opposed to a defensive upgrade, which would do nothing. Granted in pvp's situations like that only occur in RA and maybe TA. But +30 hp is definitely better than defense.

If we're talking about warriors, I always go with +hp mods. Warriors aren't normally targets of consistent damage, and if you're constantly the target then you probably don't need to worry much about the other team. Often, if a warrior is in danger, it's because he's overextended and/or getting spiked, in which case an extra 30hp can mean a lot.

30 health mod works at all times.

armor mod only works if you take a hit of damage that is not armor ignoring.
thre are precious few attacks that are not armor ignoring.
-regular warrior attack(attack skills don't count the extra damage ignores armor)
-regular bow attacks(this is negligible because no one plinks you down with arrows)
-regular wand attacks(negligible)
-ele spells(this is a mixed bag, defense mod helps, but you take a very few large hits so defense is not good)

thats it, other than those 4 limited forms of damage defense mod is completely worthless. In GvG, defense mod doesnt do anything. You are gonna get either degened to death(defense doesnt matter) or spiked by skills that ignore armor. health mod is the only worthwhile choice

the only time you consistantly take repeted hits of armor accepting damage is PvE.

I also prefer using HP mods.
Hexes (degen) were mentioned, but there is also the chance of being poisoned, set on fire, bleeding, etc.
